About Bladder cancers (26 Aug 2009)
Bladder cancer patients undergo these tests as many as four times a year. This test only requires a sample of urine on a test strip, making it a much less invasive way to monitor high-risk patients. Bladder cancer develops when a part of the bladder rapidly produces too many cells. These cells show out-of-control growth and can become cancer. Bladder cancer is likely to occur in men two to three times more than in women, and may occur in Caucasians twice as often as in African-Americans. Most occur after the age of 55, but some cases have been evident at younger ages.

Pancreas cancer (26 Aug 2009)

Pancreas cancer cells were transduced in vitro with HS-tk vector in presence of media or ascitic fluid and treated with GCV.

Types of liver cancers (26 Aug 2009)
Metastatic, or secondary, liver tumors are those that have spread to the liver from another cancer elsewhere in the body. Because one of the liver's main functions is to filter blood for the entire body, cancer cells from other parts of the body may become lodged in the liver and develop into tumors. Metastatic liver tumours are largely silent until the disease is well advanced. Patients with metastatic colorectal tumours frequently die of hepatic failure due to liver metastases.

Prostate cancer occurs when cells within the prostate start to multiply uncontrollably. In most cases, prostate cancer is a relatively slow-growing cancer, which means that it takes a number of years to become detectable. Prostate cancer is often very slow-growing and for many men with prostate cancer, the disease may never progress or cause any symptoms. In other words, many men with prostate cancer will never need any treatment. Prostate cancers are grouped according to tumor size, any spreading outside the prostate (and how far), and how different tumor cells are from normal tissue. This is called staging.

Prognostic models and prediction rules for several musculoskeletal conditions are now beginning to emerge but how many patients actually want to be given information on the likely outcome of their condition. Prognosis statistics should be used as a reference, but not a final predictor of your specific case. Every person's situation is different and should be treated individually. Prognosis also profoundly affects decisions to initiate, withhold or terminate life support for critically ill newborns and adults, and it figures in the discussions about these decisions that doctors have with patients' families. Prognostication is critical when one must allocate scarce medical resources to those patients for whom they can do the most good.
